Funeral Ceremonies in the UK
Every life, no matter how short or long, is unique, and so the way in which we say goodbye should also be unique. My aim as an independent Civil Celebrant is to help families and friends remember, honour and celebrate their loved ones in the most fitting and meaningful way.
The loss of a loved one is a painful and difficult experience. A funeral is not just about the person who has died. It’s also an important time to help those who are left behind to share and express their thoughts and memories.
My service to you includes:
Meeting with you, usually in your home, to discuss the funeral fully and inform you of the options available. We will discuss the life of your loved one in detail and I’ll record important life events, achievements, work history, interests and characteristics.
We will also discuss any poems, readings, prayers or music that you would like to include. I have lots of material and can help you in making these choices if you wish.
I will then spend time creating a unique ceremony and tribute which will honour the person and capture the essence of their personality. Depending on the circumstances, it is often appropriate to include some humour as it helps people to remember the happy times they have shared together. Some of the most memorable funeral ceremonies i’ve conducted, are where there has been lots of laughter as well as tears.
You will be able to check the ceremony content beforehand and you will have the opportunity to amend it, add to it or take anything out, until you are happy that I have created a truly personal ceremony that is exactly as you wish it to be.
I will deliver the ceremony on the day and support any family member or friend who would like to make a contribution during the ceremony. I will offer you a full presentation script of the ceremony for you to keep afterwards. The ceremony will capture the very essence of the person and tell the story of the life that has been lived.
