Chateau la Durantie
22nd May 2018
Karen and Zak from New York kicked off my 2018 wedding season in real style at Chateau la Durantie in the Dordogne.
They were a delightful couple to work with, with a wonderful story; they had met when they were just 15 years old at high school in California, and had been together for 12 years – they were real childhood sweethearts, so my job was made easier by having such an interesting story to tell!
My brief for their ceremony was that they wanted something which was “Romantic, light and with some humour. We want it to be memorable not just for us, but also for all of our guests. We are not religious at all, yet we do envision a ceremony with sentiment and lots of love.”
As Zak & Karen are both very close to their mothers, we included a ‘first kiss, last kiss’ at the beginning of the ceremony to pay tribute to their mums, who were both absolutely thrilled to have a special (and surprise) role within the ceremony!
After exchanging their traditional vows they exchanged their own very personal (and at times very funny) duet vows which were absolutely beautiful. We finished with an enthusiastic group vow and a very personalised hand blessing before they sealed the deal with the exchanging of rings.
Zak and Karen were delighted with their ceremony and their feedback on the day was that it was far better than they ever could have imagined! They loved how personal it was and Karen was especially thrilled that their little dog Finn back in New York got a mention!
They brought their own photographer from San Diego to capture the day; the delightful Aubree Lynn. Scroll down to see a selection of photos from the day. They are incredible!

A few words from Aubree Lynn, the wedding photographer…
“Lisa is one of those people who you meet and feel you’ve known for years. She has a light and energy about her that’s a joy to be around.
I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding she officiated back in May, and she was the perfect blend of professional and personable.
I’ve worked with a lot of officiants in the past, and Lisa stands in a league of her own.
Crossing my fingers we get to work together again in the future! XX”
…and from Helaina Storey, the wedding stylist.
“Lisa is one of the most reliable, professional and personable people we have ever had the pleasure to work with.
Her approach is refreshingly bespoke and individually tailored to each couple and there is nothing she can’t turn her hand to, creating the perfect ceremony for our clients, no matter what their requirements or unique preferences. We wholeheartedly recommend Lisa for your wedding celebration. Xx”
