Chateau de la Valouze
15th June 2019
When I was first asked to create a ceremony for my first ‘high-profile’ wedding, I don’t mind telling you that I was a little intrigued.
But then when I discovered that the groom was a member of Depeche Mode (one of my all-time favourite bands), I really was excited!
Peter Gordeno and his lovely Chilean bride Leyla, celebrated their wedding at the magnificent Chateau de la Valouze; surrounded by friends, family and fellow musicians who had gathered from literally all around the world to be there.
Some feedback from the happy couple…
”Thanks so much Lisa for your lovely, personalised and intimate ceremony at our amazing wedding day in Bordeaux.
Guest after guest came up to us afterwards, saying it was one of the coolest most relaxed services they’d been to and they loved all the personal touches and detail.
We weren’t the best at getting you your info to you in time but you managed to craft a lovely intimate service and we are forever grateful. It really set the relaxed tone for the whole day that we wanted.
Thank you.

And a few kind words from the Best Man…
”Hi Lisa, I’m back in L.A. now. That whole weekend was a crazy experience and everyone thought you were fantastic! The ideas, structure and interactiveness of the ceremony kept it very real and very powerful. I’ll send anyone I know over that side of the pond who’s thinking about getting hitched (or dying, etc, etc.) your way.”
The Ceremony
Peter and Leyla had requested something relaxed and humorous, a ceremony that would set a very relaxed and laid back tone for the rest of the days celebrations.
As you might expect, music was to play a big part in the ceremony, and we kicked off with the bride arriving in a 2CV to Prince’s ‘Sexy mother fucker’. We then had the real treat of one the lead singers of Depeche Mode, Martin Gore, singing ‘Somebody’ live to the delight of all the assembled guests – it was simply AMAZING! (Plus I was quite flattered that Mr Gore was happy to use my simple PA system and microphone – and it worked brilliantly!)
The ceremony actually made no mention at all of Pete’s work, but instead completely focussed on his relationship with his new bride Leyla; how they’d met, what they loved about each other, how they’d got engaged etc – and the entire ceremony was a rollercoaster of both heartfelt and humorous moments, as their love story was revealed to everyone present – and of course, there were plenty of happy tears shed.
Photos
Unfortunately for my readers, I am unable to share any official photos of Peter and Leyla’s wedding.
As the couple lead quite a public life, they understandably wanted to keep their wedding photos private.
I did however manage to get a few snaps on my phone, including a couple of selfies with Peter and his fellow band members.
Now there’s one for the scrapbook!
